Akesa awarded EcoVadis sustainability rating

Akesa has been awarded a bronze sustainability rating from EcoVadis in recognition of its commitment to sustainable and ethical business practices, and environmental stewardship.

Pioneering Australia-based clinical trial supplies procurement specialist Akesa has been awarded a bronze sustainability rating from EcoVadis in recognition of its commitment to sustainable and ethical business practices, and environmental stewardship.

EcoVadis, a globally recognised sustainability assessment platform, evaluates companies on a scale from 0 to 100, based on 21 criteria across four critical themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Akesa’s bronze-level recognition not only marks its debut in the annual EcoVadis rankings but also distinguishes it within the top 35% of over 130,000 companies evaluated worldwide across more than 220 industries in the last year.

“The EcoVadis platform offers an independent, evidence-based framework and roadmap that assists us in enhancing our company’s overall environmental, social, and governance impact,” said George Vlachos, Director of Akesa. “Achieving this rating is a testament to our continuous effort towards reducing our environmental footprint and improving business practices as we expand our reach through Asia-Pacific and globally.”

Akesa’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in several key initiatives, including the transition to a paperless office environment and the adoption of green energy for its operations, which is independently accredited by GreenPower. These steps forward not only demonstrate Akesa’s dedication to environmental sustainability but also its role as a responsible leader in the clinical trial supplies sector.

According to the company, the EcoVadis rating facilitates Akesa’s ability to monitor the sustainability performance of its suppliers, enabling a comprehensive approach to sustainability that extends throughout its supply chain. “This recognition is crucial as it aligns with the values of our customers and our vision for a sustainable future,” Mr. Vlachos added. “It encourages us to continue our efforts in not just meeting but exceeding the sustainability expectations of our stakeholders.”

With many of its suppliers also participating in the EcoVadis assessment, Akesa said it is poised to benchmark its sustainability performance against both general and industry-specific standards, ensuring continuous improvement and accountability in its operations.

Akesa’s achievement of the EcoVadis Bronze Sustainability Rating is a significant milestone in its journey towards sustainability and operational excellence. It reaffirms the company’s commitment to responsible business practices and its dedication to making a positive impact on the planet and society.
